Pupil Voice

At Little Hadham Primary, we believe in encouraging our pupils to be confident in sharing their views and engaging them in roles of responsibility to help our school become even better.

How do we do this?

School Captains

Firstly, each year, a boy and girl from Year 6 are selected to become School Captains. Their role is to represent the pupils in various ways and to support the Headteacher in pupil matters. Their first important task of the year is to lay the School’s Poppy Wreath at the Village Remembrance Service. Another aspect of their role is to give a presentation at the annual parish assembly.

School Council

Each year a boy and girl representative from Beech Class upwards is nominated by their class to sit on the School Council. The Council meets with the Headteacher fortnightly to discuss any school issues or plan any forthcoming events.

Class Council

Every fortnight, each class holds a Class Council where they discuss any class issues arising which could feed in to the next School Council meeting.

Talking Partners

As a previous Shirley Clark Pilot School, we use the strategy of ‘Talking Partners’ in our everyday learning to promote pupil voice.

Playground Buddies

Each year, pupils from Years 4-6 are invited to apply for the post of Playground Buddy to help with mediation in the playground. Interested pupils complete a job application which is then reviewed and successful applicants meet with the Deputy Head to develop their role. In addition to helping solve any conflicts, the ‘Buddies’ help to co-ordinate playtime games, organise ‘craze’ resources and monitor the Friendship Bench for any pupils needing a friend to play with.

Eco-Council

Last year, our Eco Council worked together to achieve accreditation of the Eco-Schools Silver Award. This year a new team have been appointed to work together towards achieving the prestigious Green Glag Award.

Sports Crew

A group of Y6 pupils are selected to organise physical activities for the younger children at lunchtimes. They are also in charge of the Sports Noticeboard.
