This week, in English, we read and interpreted Christmas poems and learnt some of their features, such as: alliteration, similes, metaphors, verses. As a result, children wrote their own version of the ’12 Days of Christmas’, using beautiful noun phrases and similes.
In PSHE, we joined the ‘Secret Santa with a Twist’ activity of kindness. Maple class pupils wrote lovely acrostic poems full of wishes and love, a kind act with kind words, for their classmates.
In Maths, we have been learning how to divide numbers using informal and formal, written methods. We never stop learning and we are becoming experts in the methods of division!
On Monday and on Wednesday mornings, our pupils joined the online meetings of the ‘Cinderella – Discovering values’ Erasmus+ project. They had the opportunity to sing to the pupils of our partner schools the ‘Sing up – It’s Christmas!’ song and listen to them singing traditional Christmas songs in Greek, Croatian, Polish, Italian and Spanish! Maple class children asked to sing another song on Wednesday; our partner schools loved listening to our children singing ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’. Our pupils also watched presentations by other children on the Christmas traditions in the partner countries, discussed similarities and differences and created posters showing the traditions using Microsoft Word!
Maple class pupils also performed the ‘Sing up – It’s Christmas!’ song in our whole school Christmas assembly. Finally, Maple class worked in groups and enjoyed answering to the various questions of a fun Christmas quiz!
