In English, we finished reading the inspiring book ‘Oranges in No Man’s Land’ by Elizabeth Laird. What an amazing book, what an eye-opener to the realities children and adults face when they live in areas and countries devastated by war! This week, the heart-warming story inspired us to write setting descriptions and book reviews, but most importantly it gave us the opportunity to discuss the various themes it covers such as: war, refugees, bravery, kindness.
Kindness… one of our school values, one of our qualities. In PSHE, we discussed how we are influenced by the media. We described ‘star’ qualities of celebrities as portrayed by the media and recognised that the way people are portrayed in the media isn’t always an accurate reflection of them in real life. We then described ‘star’ qualities that ‘ordinary’ people have and lucky us – we have plenty of them!
Yes, we are stars! We write beautifully, we dance beautifully. Year 5s impressed once again with their dance movements.
Have a lovely weekend, you little stars! Thank you for the gift bags and the amazing art pieces of work that you created for the partner schools in Italy.
