This week, we learnt about Katherine Johnson, who was an American mathematician. She made important contributions during her career at NASA. We researched facts about her life and work, created fact files and wrote her biography. Some of the children’s beautiful fact files already decorate our new ‘Time travel’ display in the class! In Art, we got inspired by the surrealist artists and created our own clocks for our new display.

In Maths, we started working on decimals, recognised tenths and hundredths and converted decimals to fractions. We also learnt about converting ml to l and mm to km. In RE, we discussed how humankind can care for the environment.

In Science, we learnt about what life is like for people at retirement age. We invited a special guest to speak to the children, and the children heard about the importance of: keeping the mind and body healthy and active, the enjoyment of looking after grandchildren, planning your own day (and even not having to get out of bed too early if it is cold!).

To celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday, we enjoyed a special Zoom performance from the Globe performers.

And, of course, we absolutely loved our drama session!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
