This week, in English, children wrote with greater independence and it was amazing to see that they can apply what they have learnt in their writing. This was our second week of writing film reviews. Children chose which film they would like to write about, they used noun phrases to describe their favourite characters and relative clauses to add extra detail. They also used fronted adverbials and different sentence starters to build cohesion between sentences.
In Maths, they solved problems involving decimals. In PSHE/Science, they designed and created their attractive, easy to read leaflets about healthy eating or the benefits of specific forms of exercise and illustrated them with drawings. Some leaflets are already on display in our classroom.
In Art, children followed instructions to draw cartoons (a retro style girl and boy and a puppy) and they then enjoyed creating their own cartoons.
