A book is a gift you can open again and again

There’s nothing quite like that new book smell! We were delighted to receive our new class set of ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar this week and began using our books straight away.

This week in Willow Class, we thought about the Black Death and the Pestilence from the Middle Ages. If Pestilence could speak, what would he tell us? We drafted speeches as though we were Pestilence and used some great vocabulary.

Suffering from the symptoms of the Black Death? Then look no further. We designed posters advertising the weird and wonderful cures around in the Middle Ages. From powdered unicorn horn to strapping chickens to your boils, there’s a cure for you! Emily also modelled a fabulous replica Plague Doctor mask made by her aunt!

It was time to be assertive in PSHE. We explored what being assertive looks like and some of us were happy to demonstrate assertive body language.

In Yoga, Willow Class taught the adults a new game. It was lots of fun and helped everyone to practise their Yoga positions as well as their listening skills.

In Computing, we continued our discussions about staying safe online and enjoyed playing a Kahoot quiz. In Science this week, we researched the healing properties of plants. We had fun identifying some herbs and tasting them.

Meet the new journalism team for this term. Our first meeting was one full of ideas and planning.

Congratulations to Ashton and Jessica, who join our new School Council team for this year.

And finally…a new member in Willow Class? Perfectly positioned on our windowsill, this furry little friend enjoyed joining in with our learning!

Enjoy the weekend, Willow Class!
