A Great Start to the Summer Term

Early Years are really enjoying our new topic of Animals and were excited to find a vets surgery in our indoor roleplay area. One afternoon, the whole classroom turned into a vets. There was a waiting room, vets writing down medication that was needed, as well as numerous vets checking and treating poorly animals. Thank goodness the children of Ash and Saplings were on hand to look after all the poorly pets.

Following on with our Animal theme, we are working from the book, Oi Frog in our Literacy lessons. The children could spot rhyming words and even thought of their own rhyming words, such as lizard on a wizard, monkey on a tree and fox on a box.

In maths, we are practising counting to 20 and the children are working really hard on this, particularly the teen numbers. We have also been looking at and recognising numerals to 20.

In our outdoor area, the children have enjoyed our Hadham Holiday Shop where they have had the opportunities to pack holiday bags for all sorts of destinations. The children wrote passports and even made a plane to fly away on. This roleplay area has created plenty of learning opportunities through play for the children.

We were very excited that Mrs Lawrence visited on Thursday with her new baby. The children were very pleased to see her again and to have the chance to  meet Oscar!

We have been using our ‘scientist eyes’ to look  carefully at animals to notice details about them so that we can draw them. The children used magnifying glasses to look very closely at pictures so they could do some amazing drawings.
