How many more sleeps…!

Dear all,

The guidance released by the Government yesterday hopefully came as welcome news to all families with Little Hadham Primary due to open in September for all children full time. Hurrah! I’m proud to say that the measures implemented at school and the care taken by all families to act appropriately to preserve the integrity of our bubbles have been amazing. I will write home before the summer break with full details of our plans for September including the staggered drop off and pick up times.

This year the reports will come home for Year R, 1, 2, 3 and 5 on Tuesday and Year 4 and 6 on Thursday. I’m aware parents and children are keen to know plans for class arrangements for September too. A huge amount of thought and consideration has gone into getting this right for our children and this information will be emailed out to you on Thursday the 9th of July.

Regarding uniform, as we have seen many of our pupils have grown over the lockdown and will certainly have grown by September. Therefore, for the first half term of the autumn term we will remain with children wearing their normal clothes. Please make sure these are practical for sport, forest, outdoor learning and nothing too precious! Also, this will mean that the children won’t have to change for sport which would be difficult in the classroom when social distancing!

Thank you once again for all the many messages of thanks and goodwill that we have received over the past months. The support and understanding of our families has been so appreciated. I think the most tiring thing on us all has been the mental strain, the desperate desire to get things right. Luckily, the morale of the staff has remained high throughout the pandemic and I am indebted to them all for their professionalism, astounding creativity and great sense of humour which carries us all through dark times. Your engagement with the processes and systems we have had to put in place has been fundamental. Despite having to practically reorganise the school on a weekly basis, change start and finish times, you too have shown such good humour and understanding. You have been just brilliant.

In addition, I appreciate, the continued challenge of home learning is not easy. Please persevere as it is so important children continue to keep up with work. With school set to be closed soon for the summer holidays I would ask you all to give it one last big push and to make sure your children are completing their remote learning and sending it in to their teachers . All I can ask is that everyone tries their best and reaches out for help when needed.

We hope you have a lovely restful weekend,

Sinead Connolly
