LIME
Lime were inspired by cake decorating day and began making as many muddy cakes as they could. Some decided to find fallen flowers and sweet chestnuts to decorate their cakes, while others thought that mudballs would be more fun! They rolled them together to create bigger and bigger mudballs and those in the digging zone were only too happy to supply their makers. A shop was made too which sold lots of muddy soups and the shelter was given a facelift with a tarp used for flooring now.
WILLOW
Willow were also very impressed by the consistency of the mud and very quickly put their disappointment at not being able to climb aside and got to work in the digging zone. They dug down to the clay level and then decided to line it with decorative grass for reasons which they weren’t too sure about! Another group started a shelter-making competition and used tarp in a couple of different ways but they didn’t quite have enough time to finish, so vowed to continue next week.
EYFS
The day could not have stared any better for Ash and Saplings. A strange and colourful bag appeared in the forest and no one knew what it was! They took turns guessing and a few people thought it might be a pillow or a new tarp but…it was a hammock! The first job was to find a place for it to hang and once (after a couple of attempts) it was up, they took it in turns to chill. They giggled away as they swung and had an incredible time. Elsewhere, the sweet chestnuts are falling fast and needed collecting and a sandcastle was built too!
BEECH
The intrigue into what could be in the bag sent a wave of excitement through Beech class too! They were mostly sure it was a parachute but a few sharp eyes knew that it was a hammock and a cheer went up as it got pulled out of the bag. Once it was tied up (more successfully this time) they took it in turns to hang and there were a few who just kept getting in the queue to have more goes! The mud in the digging zone was perfect today, so that was very full and the rope swing had another ingenious knot tied, so it looked a bit more like a real swing!
MAPLE
By the time the afternoon rolled around, word of the hammock had spread through the playground, so Maple knew what was coming. They were all fairly certain that their hard lives meant that had earned a swing and began queueing so that they could laze around for a few minutes. They also wanted the knives out again, so some sat a calmly whittled, while another team were shocked to find that they’d spent the whole session digging! Another group started their own cake decorating shop and sold beautiful cakes at only 2 leaves each.
