Kindness changes everything!

On Tuesday, our Junior Dragons worked brilliantly together to organise a Mothers Day stall for the whole school. There were beautiful gifts and cards to choose and the Dragons were extremely busy with a steady flow of customers. Their planning and hard work certainly paid off as they managed to raise over £200 – a phenomenal amount! What a super team! All money raised will go to the Dragons’ chosen local charity, SPACE, which supports families of children and young people who are autistic, have ADHD or other neurodiverse conditions. Well done, Dragons! What amazing things you can achieve when you work together.! The next fundraising event planned by the Dragons will be the Easter Bake-Off on Friday 24th March.

In English, we put the finishing touches to our persuasive travel texts. After reading these texts, we are convinced that Iceland should definitely be our number one holiday destination.

We have been busy learning a poem by heart this week. We have chosen the well-known T. S Eliot poem ‘Macavity, the Mystery Cat’ to perform to the whole school in just under two weeks time. We have had a lot of fun thinking of different ways to perform each verse and deciding which actions might enhance our reading of the poem. We also answered questions based on the language of the poem and then explored Macavity’s character by writing WANTED posters.

During our Learning Together Morning this week, we put our parents to the test! We shared with them some SATs style questions and talked about what happens during SATs week, including our all important SATs Breakfast!

In Science, we considered the importance of a healthy lifestyle and used our previous learning about healthy hearts and the circulatory system to write persuasive letters to Ms. Connolly asking her to introduce yet more physical activity clubs. We certainly know a lot about the positive impact physical activity has on our bodies and our well-being.

In RE, we have been considering the events of Holy Week and the Easter story. We discussed the events of the Easter story and then thought about what questions we would ask Jesus.

In Volleyball, we talked tactics and strategy! We played a mini tournament with our new skills and thought about the importance of our positions on the court.

To all our mums, have a lovely Mother’s Day this Sunday. Thank you for all you do.

Have a lovely weekend.
