Our week started with a game of ‘Odd One Out’ in Yoga. Using the ‘dancer’, ‘boat’ and ‘bow’ poses, we focused on our core stability and tried our hardest not to wobble.
Maths was ‘mean’ – calculating the average! We also practised how to use a protractor to make sure we read our angles correctly and how to work out the degrees of different types of angles. Estimating angles proved to be a challenge when we tried it in an interactive learning game. What a competitive bunch we are!
Motivational speeches, based on those possibly used by the England Football managers, and drawing inspiration from the 1966 World Cup success was our English focus this week. We anaylsed different motivational speeches and discussed the use of positive, powerful vocabulary, imagery and reference to legends amongst other techniques.
Drama and dance provided us with more opportunity to rehearse, perform and perfect our sketches and routines. We have ‘Oscar’ Academy Award nominations in abundance.
The rain stopped in time for our Forest School session on Friday. We were digging for treasure, climbing trees and building camps as well as completing some more filming. Your talents are endless, Willow Class.
In Science, we researched healthy lifestyles and balanced diets. We learnt about the nutrients needed to stay healthy and the different types of exercise to maintain a healthy body. We created informative leaflets using Publisher to present our research.
Team work was key in PE when we played Rounders and Netball matches. Lots of skills, patience and attention on display.
Phew! Ready for a relaxing weekend, Year 6. Well done!
