Rope Swing Fun!

LIME

The main talk in the session was the brand-new rope swing rope! They were excited to put it in the tree and test it out, but then someone had an idea… ‘We should do a tug of war’. So that was how a huge group spent about half the session. They split into months of birth and then Year 3’s v Year 4’s (the younger team won!). Once the rope was up, they took turns hanging from it and discovered that you could sit on the knot at the end. A group also began a rock-selling shop, for very competitive rates (one green and one yellow leaf).

WILLOW

As always, the same group of tremendously dedicated foresters set about improving their amazing den in the corner of the forest. They worked on making a boundary this week and were dragging logs in a curve, so that no one could mistake their territory for neutral land! Elsewhere some were showing off gymnastic moves with the new rope swing and trying to teach others how it’s done and a very complex pulley and bucket system was invented although forest came to an end, just as it was ready to go.

EYFS

It was a beautiful sunny morning which was the perfect opportunity to introduce the little ones to Mrs Nicklin’s famous forest game, ‘1, 2, 3, Where are you?’. They really enjoyed the call and response aspect and tried hard to find some good hiding spaces. One group wanted to keep playing for the entire session! Elsewhere the new rope swing was going down a storm and a very polite line was formed, so that they could take turns using it. Some were trying to tie ropes to the new buckets too.

BEECH

Beech were all over the trees! They couldn’t believe their luck that even though they were in waterproofs, they could still climb. They also took turns really nicely using the rope swing and some even had the job of holding the rope for other people. A great group of bug hunters were looking under the stumps and collecting anything that wriggled in a bucket. Another group were in the digging zone but decided it needed a bridge to help you get safely across. They were dragging logs in teams and trying to make it sturdy.

MAPLE

The sun had dried up most of the mud and Maple were over the moon to find out they had survived a waterproof scare and only needed wellies! A couple of milkshake shops popped up and began making milkshakes in increasingly more imaginative flavours (including rainbow and worm…). The digging zone was collecting as many worms as they could and filled a bucket with mud for them to play in. Some acrobatics were taking place in the tree and a very excitable crew played a game of among us.
