We returned well-rested and raring to learn! A chilly start to the week didn’t seem to slow us down.
We continue to enjoy our class text ‘Wonder’ by R. J. Palacio and this week we explored the theme of kindness that runs through this text. In PSHE, we continued our discussion on the power of kindness as we learnt about the role of the British Red Cross.
In English, we learnt how to use the subjunctive form. We listened to some popular songs, including tracks from Midge Ure, Beyoncé and Justin Bieber. We listened carefully to see if the songwriter had used the subjunctive form correctly. In Justin Bieber’s song ‘Boyfriend’, he does not use this grammatical feature correctly and so we decided to write to him to point out his mistake and show him how he should correct his mistake. After all, if Year 6 can use the subjunctive form correctly, so too can Mr Bieber!
In our weekly Yoga lesson, we worked on strengthening our core and our posture with the Boat, Dragonfly and Hero 2 poses.
In P.E. we worked to improve our spatial awareness and team work skills. The sun shone and we definitely had a good work out!
In our Forest session, although it was chilly, the sun wasn’t the only thing smiling. Team work, cooperation and interesting finds were a-plenty.
In Science, we were taxonomists and used classification to sort different animals into groups according to their similarities and differences.
In Computing, we have been researching the history of computing. Did you know the word ‘computer’ was first used back in 1613! We were fascinated by how much computers have changed through the decades.
With the passing of The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh last week, we took some time this week to reflect on his life of 99 years and some of his achievements including how he might be remembered.
Have a lovely weekend, Year 6.
