This little light of mine…

What exactly is light? How does it travel? What is darkness? So many questions and so much to explore! We got straight to work this week learning and discovering all things light related in Science. It was fun to create a 3D model to show how light travels in straight lines and is reflected off objects. We also explored transparent, translucent and opaque objects and the shadows we could create.

In our topic lesson this week, we learnt about different art movements from the 19th and 20th centuries. We researched how the different movements differed in style and talked about some key artists from each art movement. Do you know the difference between Cubism and Abstract art? Which came first – Fauvism or Realism? Ask Year 6 – they’re becoming experts!

In Maths, we have been learning about ratio. We have used ratio to solve problems. We have also enlarged shapes using scale factors of 2, 3 and 4.

In our French lesson we had fun rehearsing a little conversation and learning about other French speaking countries across the world.

‘Salut! Comment t’appelles-tu ? Quel âge as-tu? Où habites-tu?’ Nous avons pratiqué de petites conversations en français. Nous avons également découvert les différents pays francophones dans le monde!

Forest time was all about being back together again after the Easter break. We had a great time showing our creative side and making forest creatures as well as cementing friendships.

A lovely way to start the summer term. Have a great weekend!
