Today is a gift, that’s why they call it the present!

This week has been Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme this year is ‘Back to Nature’. In Willow Class, we have been talking about the steps we can all take to improve our mental health and wellbeing.

We know how important it is to connect with people around us…

In Year 6, we love being physically active…

We love learning new skills and trying something we haven’t done before…

In Maths, we explored the volume of different shapes and we used a formula to calculate volume. In Science, we learnt about different microorganisms and designs our own models. Can you spot which have a nucleus and which are bacteria cells? They were great fun to learn about and to make!

We know how good it feels to give to others…

This week we have designed stamps for the Royal Mail’s competition to recognise our heroes. We have shown how the gift of friendship brings huge smiles and we have given the gift of being super learning partners. We learn so much from each other.

We discussed how paying attention to the present moment can improve our mental wellbeing. We took time this week to notice our surroundings and notice how we have been feeling; we took time to do the things that make us feel good; we took time to notice the beauty that nature has to offer. We sketched some super roses using our knowledge of light and dark and shading…

We created posters to remind others of the benefits of going ‘Back to Nature’ …

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. But today is a gift – that’s why they call it the present!”

Have a wonderful weekend, Year 6.
