Welcome home!

LIME

Lime were ready and raring to get out and have some fun in their first forest session back. They were tasked with showing everyone what they did in the summer by acting it out or building things using the forest. There were some great actions and builds, including someone using the tree as a horse! Elsewhere a group of people decided they had to look after an invisible monkey (which involved lots of saying ‘no, don’t do that monkey’) and some spiders were crawling up some very brave Lime student’s arms!

WILLOW

The new Willow class had a lot of energy and they focussed that on telling each other what happened in the holidays. There was a very imaginative crabbing (using some new buckets), bike riding (also using buckets) and someone went swimming on a branch. As they split off into different groups, one lot became ‘The Posh Boys of Little Hadham’. They spoke in their best posh voices and talked about all the things they owned while making a very nice mansion! A really cool ‘worm monster’ was made with loads of catkins on the floor too.

EYFS

It was the first time in the forest for lots of the little learners in the school and they seemed flabbergasted by the size of the forest! They listened to some of the agreements of the forest to keep them safe and then had an MTV Cribs style tour of its boundaries. It was the tree that they were most excited to get into and it wasn’t long before they were taking their first few tentative shuffles up the lower branches. They were also getting the hang of dragging sticks around trying not to bump into anyone and started making a great fort.

BEECH

Beech were much more lively and enthusiastic, we had to implement a group system to make sure everyone had a go in a tree and they managed to take turns wonderfully. A spirited game of hide and seek was played, while a group began to build on Willow’s worm monster pile and put some sticks around it to keep it safe. It was lovely to see the mix of games that were played in Beech last year, merging into what the Ash children were doing last year. Of course, the digging zone was popular and they were trying to make a tunnel to get to their houses!

MAPLE

The sun was beaming down on the forest by the time Maple were out which was a bit of a shock for those who were in Lime last year, as they were used to drearier morning sessions! After some major sweeping, a very strong den was made. They did have to stop halfway through to free a rock from the ground but it didn’t hinder them for long. An opening ceremony to the new forest year was practiced and then performed with lots of people singing songs or dancing. Then they all sang we wish you a Merry Christmas for some very unseasonable reason!
