LIME
A whole bunch of Lime children were transformed into Red Pandas! They were inspired by some piles of bamboo that had been trimmed from the bushes. They climbed trees, slept and pretended to munch, all while trying to look as fluffy as possible! A spy/secret agent game was taking place, where sticks were used as trackers to find a suspect, somehow this game then morphed into a dinosaur hunting game?! An Eat 17 shop opened up where you could order any food you wanted and a huge group of boys sharpened sticks on a log!
WILLOW
The leaves had fallen down a lot over the half-term break and Willow were excited to make a giant leaf pile. They used hands and shuffled their feet to build it but soon realised that it would be more fun to use sticks as brooms. They spent a while trying to find the best sticks and swept until the pile was huge. A great collection of awesome rocks and sticks was being created in the digging zone. Every time someone found something cool, they would take it to the head collectors to see if it made the grade. The hammock was also very popular again!
EYFS
The forest/PE shed was being sorted out and the little ones benefitted the most, as a plastic viewing worm box was found. They were tasked with filling it with mud and then finding some wiggly critters to move in! They dug frantically in the digging zone and carefully poured small handfuls of soil in, with a few layers of coloured sand to track the worms movements. They then tried their best to find some worms and managed to find a decent amount. The leaf pile was still growing too and they also made sure to not leave any big sticks in.
BEECH
The worm box fascinated Beech class but they decided there weren’t nearly enough worms inside, so began turning stumps over and tearing up the mud and found handfuls of worms. They were too cramped at first but soon burrowed under to the delight of the children! While digging for worms a new discovery was found, it was a huge slab but they thought it was probably a time capsule. They didn’t quite finish digging it out but vowed to be back next week! In calmer parts of the forest, the tree was climbed and the hammock was relaxed in.
MAPLE
The worm box was of great interest to Maple too but it was the leaf pile that took up a lot of their time this week. They grew the pile bigger and someone decided to get buried in them! Once they’d escaped, there was a brief flurry of jumping in the pile. The worms had dug down quite far and some who weren’t in the leaf party found some more worms for the box and studied what they would do next. The hammock has become a regular fixture for Maple, as has the weekly battle between two Roman armies. They also enjoyed uncovering more of the slab in the digging zone.
