LIME
Unscathed by the frost, Lime class wrapped up warm and dove headfirst into forest life. One group began the session by sweeping the floor of leaves and then bashing sticks into the ground. It was cake day, so some people were collected the swept up leaves and began making leaf cakes! One group wanted to do some I’m a Celeb challenges and after; balancing on one leg and collecting worms, they were tasked with holding a worm for as long as they could stand. There was lots of screaming but no one shouted ‘Get me out of here’!
WILLOW
Willow were also keen on making a leaf cake but they laced it with a whole lot of squishy mud! After a while, they’d over watered the mixture, so they decided it was more like cement and used it to put in the digging zone. One group were playing a chasing game which usually involved lots of running but by some miracle, they actually managed to walk the whole time. The rope swing was used to tangle people up and then rapidly spin them until they could take no more and some sushi was made using leaves and sweet chestnut shells.
EYFS
As always, the vibes across the school on Christmas Fayre day are on another level. The children were practically fizzing with excitement and it was all anyone could think about! So the forest session was full of Christmassy things with singing, Father Christmas and of course 1, 2, 3 Where are you?. Some brilliant potions were made and ALOT of climbing took place over the log pile behind the shed. Some of the children were trying their best to be inconspicuous and spy on the teachers but they also did announce that very loudly…
BEECH
The school was so full of Christmassy things that Beech class had to walk through the car park and across the playground to get into the forest, so naturally they were also incredibly hyped up! They did lots of things, although the only real Christmas things of note was a band of Reindeer riding in Santa’s sleigh and a Christmas biscuit shop. One group found the biggest brownest leaves and started a spicy chicken shop, while another group made an incredible log pile using a rope to support the central log.
MAPLE
The general pandemonium and amount of Christmas cheer had reached Mariah Carey levels by the afternoon. One tribe decided they would work to make the best cement ever and they were hoping it would cure lots of diseases! One group played a mammoth game of hide and seek that seemed to last for the whole session. The rope swing was taken to another level and now has 2 modes; ‘classic’ (which comes in a range of intensities) or ‘Amanda Whipp’, which is a brilliant play on the name of the character from Matilda who gets spun round and round…
