Enrichment Activities

Each half term we have a Golden Enrichment Time with a range of activities to inspire and stimulate the children’s interests.

Yesterday (14/02/19) we held our 3rd Golden Afternoon and what an amazing session it was. From monkeying around on climbing frames, to finding all sorts of things that they never expected to find on a Scavenger hunt, making and tasting all sorts of smoothies, learning new dances, taking part in a range of obstacles and team sports, sewing with love and origami experts putting the teachers to a challenge… according to the children these afternoons get better and better! What fantastic team work in all groups! All enjoyed it very much and a huge thank you to all the adults for making these days such wonderful experiences.

On Thursday morning (21/12/18), the whole school embarked on enrichment activities, with children of all ages selecting from a wide range of workshops. The aim of golden time is to develop children’s independent life skills, to provide and enhance our pupils with great life experiences, and help them learn a new skill. The choices offered this time included science, sports, dance, arts, cooking, crafts, knitting and construction. The children had a fabulous time and some children said they wished they day wouldn’t end. A special thanks to those parents who could come in and offer a skill and to those who came into help- it made the day extra exceptional.

S.C.E.M.A. Network

In 2007, Little Hadham Primary School established the Stortford Talented and Gifted Enrichment Network (S.T.A.G.E) for the provision for Able, Gifted and Talented pupils in the Bishops Stortford Network. It is has recently been rebranded as S.C.E.M.A., which stands for Stortford Challenge and Enrichment for the More Able.

Each half term, an Enrichment Day is organised to bring together specific age pupils from schools across the network to work together in a subject area where they show particular strength/talent. These may be primary or secondary specialist teacher led. We have also commissioned outside providers to lead Enrichment Days .e.g. SETPOINT.

Similarly, Little Hadham hosts a Staff Meeting each half term across the network for sharing good practice, national agenda updates and key focus training. Staff find this very informative and helps keep everyone informed on the latest pedagogy in provision for more able pupils.
