Welcome back after the half-term break! It’s been a fantastic week in Lime class, filled with lots of learning, fun, and new experiences. The students have been very engaged, showing great enthusiasm and curiosity in all areas of their learning.
In English, Year 3 have been exploring play scripts, learning about their conventions and why they’re used in drama. The children examined how dialogue, stage directions, and character interactions work together to tell a story. After studying the format, they had a go at writing their own play scripts, demonstrating their understanding of the key features and using the correct format. Their creativity really shone through, and it was exciting to see their ideas come to life on paper!
Year 4 have been working hard on autobiographical writing. The children took a deep dive into their own lives and memories, learning how to structure an autobiography and reflect on key moments that have shaped who they are. The class has also been exploring fractions in Maths, focusing on equivalence and using fraction walls to compare and order fractions. They also continued to learn about angles, learning how to identify and measure them based on size. This topic sparked some lively discussions, and the students showed great progress.
The week was made even more special by a visit from Steve Frew, a medal-winning gymnast from Great Britain. He gave an inspirational assembly, shared his personal journey, and answered questions from the children. During the afternoon, he led a sponsored sports circuit for each class, which was full of energy, laughter, and plenty of breathless smiles. The students loved the chance to get involved, and there was a lot of fun to be had while getting active and raising money.
In Religious Education, we focused on the Last Supper, exploring its connection to both the Jewish festival of Passover and the Christian celebration of Easter. Year 3 took part in a special activity, tasting “wine” (blackcurrant squash) and bread to kick off the lesson, which sparked their curiosity and led to some thoughtful discussions. In Science, Year 3 began studying rocks and fossils. They sorted rocks into naturally occurring and man-made categories, engaging in interesting conversations about how humans shape and use natural materials to create objects like statues and walls. The children even went on a “rock hunt” in the school grounds, which brought their learning to life.
Overall, it’s been a week full of enthusiasm, creativity, and hard work. We are so proud of the progress Lime class continues to make and look forward to more exciting learning ahead!
