Sharing, Performing and Creative Adventures

It has been a wonderfully busy and creative week in Year 6. From sharing our learning with our families to performing poetry and exploring new skills, it’s been full of memorable moments!

On Wednesday, we were really excited to meet with our families during our parent consultation meetings. We wrote special messages to share what we are most proud of and what we feel we have improved this term.

We know how important it is to reflect on our learning, and we absolutely love having the chance to share our books and achievements with you. Thank you for coming along and celebrating our progress with us—it means a lot!

A true highlight of the week was our Poetry By Heart event. We celebrated rhythm and rhyme by performing our version of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf by Roald Dahl—and we had so much fun bringing his humorous twist on the classic tale to life!

We also loved watching performances from other classes across the school. The clarity, confidence and enthusiasm on display were fantastic, and there was a real buzz in the room as we all enjoyed sharing poetry together.

You can watch a recording of our performance on Tapestry—we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Thursday brought our exciting Golden Morning, where we explored a range of enrichment activities.

From K-Pop singing and dancing to pom-pom making, gardening, drama, and even stop motion movie creation, there was something for everyone! We loved mixing with children from across the school and stepping out of our comfort zones to try something new.

In Maths, we got hands-on with our learning as we explored volume. Using cubes, we built different 3D shapes and discovered that shapes can look completely different but still have the same volume.

It was a fun and practical way to understand how much space objects take up—and there were some very creative constructions!

In French, we designed and wrote our own Easter cards. We learnt some fantastic new vocabulary, including: lapin (rabbit), fleurs (flowers), œufs de Pâques (Easter eggs) Joyeuses Pâques! Parfait!

Linking with our Frozen Kingdom topic, we explored the work of Inuit artists from the Arctic. We were particularly inspired by Kenojuak Ashevak, whose artwork beautifully represents animals that are so important in Inuit daily life.

We then created our own Inuit-style drawings and paintings, using bold shapes and patterns to bring Arctic animals to life. The results were stunning!

We wish you all a wonderful Easter break!
