LIME
There was a definite change in the weather this morning and it was quite a shock for Lime class! The wellies and waterproofs were on and the radar app showed inclement weather was closing in! They still made the most of the conkers as a shop was made and a nest was made that had a few conkers on top. The Sweet Chestnut Burrs have mostly all fallen now too and a very dedicated group started splitting them open and prying them free. Some acrobats took turns hanging upside down on the swing too!
WILLOW
You could probably hear the groans at 12:45 as Willow Class trudged to the waterproof rack and began getting ready! Despite the horrendous rain, they felt that waterproofs were totally unjustified. In the rain, the conker shops sprang up once more and lots of trading and bartering took place. The baby conker from last week was found and enjoyed once more but then a 2nd baby conker was discovered and a new group traded for it and generally just felt very special to have it!
EYFS
The rain and wind had teamed up with the wind during the week to knock down loads and loads of Sweet Chestnut burrs. It didn't take long for the children to realise that they could be very spiky! They used sticks to tweeze them open and logs to bash them and found the little Sweet Chestnuts waiting inside. We have a rule in the forest that if a stick is taller than a teacher - 3 people have to carry it. One trio took that very seriously today and walked around for the whole time with a giant branch in tow!
BEECH
The wind had kicked up a bit more while Beech were in the forest and they had to dodge the spiky burrs at points! A seesaw was created by one small team, but they seemed to spend more time on the floor than seeing and sawing - which they thoroughly enjoyed! A base was built by a team and then they dug a small hole to keep their treasure in. A group really enjoyed the blue barrels today, so they spent lots of time rolling around in them and giggling!
MAPLE
Luckily, the wind had died down a bit by the afternoon and Maple class were pleased to get out and cause some forest mischief! They decided that the Sweet Chestnuts had to be tidied up. The grabbed some buckets and began scooping them up (being careful not to spike their hands) and another group began breaking them open. A very cool gym was created that had; a running machine, weights, giant rope, pull up bar and stretching machine. Also, a tattoo/food shop popped up, making people's hands very muddy!
