A fun last week of term in Early Years!

Early this week, we were very excited to visit the library bus! The children enjoyed choosing their very first book and sharing it together. Although some children were initially expecting the engine to spring into life and take us on a journey (!) they soon became completely engrossed in the story. It was wonderful to see them listening, sharing ideas and enjoying a love of books together.

In literacy, the children had lots of fun creating their very own word potions! They worked hard to sound out simple words and listen carefully for initial sounds. We loved seeing their enthusiasm as we mixed the magical ingredients and developed their early phonics skills.
In maths, we continued our learning all about patterns. The children enjoyed becoming pattern detectives, spotting repeating patterns in their environment and noticing how patterns appear all around us. We also had lots of fun singing action songs with repeating movements, helping us to recognise, predict and continue simple patterns.

On Thursday, the children enjoyed a special ‘Golden Morning’ filled with fun and exciting activities! They had the opportunity to take part in a range of experiences, including science, stop-motion animation, dancing, cooking, and arts and crafts. It
was a wonderful morning, giving the children the chance to work alongside older
children from other classes, develop new skills, and try something different.
Everyone took part with great enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed this exciting
opportunity to learn, create, and have fun together!

We finished our shorter week with an afternoon of fun activities to practise the phonics sounds we have learnt throughout this half term! The children took part in an exciting letter and sound hunt, searching around the classroom for different letters. They used their cutting skills to cut out a letter from the strip and then matched it to one of the sounds they had written down on their paper. The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity and were fully engaged as they searched high and low for the letters. It was wonderful to see them confidently recognising and matching letters to the sounds they have been learning, while developing their phonics knowledge and fine motor skills through play. Well done, everyone!

What a jam-packed, fun-filled half term it has been! We are so proud of how much the children have learnt and achieved over the past eight weeks.
It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow and to watch them develop new skills throughout the term. It was a pleasure to meet with you all at parents’ evening this week to celebrate
the children’s fantastic progress and share how well they are doing.
Thank you
for your continued support and partnership. We hope you all enjoy a lovely half-term break, and we look forward to welcoming the children back for another exciting half term of learning!
