Conker Pun no.3 (working title)

LIME
The conkers just keep on appearing in the forest and today they were joined by a whole bunch of sweet chestnut shells (which are called Burrs) and you had to be very careful while picking them up. Several groups banded together and collected as many as they could to start trading. One team were saving up so that they could buy a shop to sell things! Up in the trees, a couple of monkeys were squeaking away. A nest was also found in the tree with lots of feathers scattered around. Someone peeked in and could see lots of leaves and then they build their own stick nest.

WILLOW
Trade. Trade. Trade. 2 shops and 1 conker farm opened up and immediately began trying to trade for bigger and better items. For a while everyone wanted conkers but once they realised there was a bit of a stalemate, some businesses changed tack - which blew the market wide open! Conkers were being traded for sweet chestnuts (which were called Percy Piggies for some reason), and various leaves and feathers were also being swapped around. Everything had settled down a bit until the 'baby conker' entered the mix and the bidding war began again!

EYFS
The conkers were obviously very popular once more, and they really enjoyed collecting them together. Several teams were working separately to fill buckets and pots but they soon realised that working together was their best bet, so they joined forces and filled a HUGE bucket full. Elsewhere, everyone wanted to swing from the tree, so a queue system was created and all those waiting would count down as they flew around. A nest was discovered in a tree, so mini stick nests also popped up in tribute.

BEECH
Of course, the conkers were a pretty big deal for the Beech class children again and one very dedicated crew filled a big blue bucket so high that they needed two people to help carry it. A mud volcano was created in the digging zone, as children dug up dirt, while another group fashioned it into a great big pile with a stick poking out of the top. It was Cookie Day this week, so some children spent their time getting muddy and shaping their dough before topping it with decorative conkers.

MAPLE
Three shops were working overtime to stock their shelves and open the doors to customers. They all had a slightly different currency, which made for quite a neat little circle of produce changing owners! One group were hellbent on making swings and using lots of rope today, so they draped the tree in as much rope as they could and tried to swing. After a while, they started making a platform but luckily decided it probably wouldn't be safe for any of them to use. At the stumps a huge kite was flying above them which signaled it was time to leave before it swooped down to eat anyone!
