Sun Sun Sun!

LIME

As you can imagine, the excitement levels in the forest were off the scale. The children were practically floating around the forest at the thought of travelling into London and watching the Lion King. Naturally, they were mostly interested in playing Lion King – related games and a few groups were acting out the story, with some of the characters strutting their stuff on a cat walk! The digging zone was very popular and a group worked to dig a trench that would help move some water from one hole to another, with very muddy results!

EYFS

It was a beautiful sunny day and perfect weather to play an Ash and Saplings favourite game, 1, 2, 3 Where are you?. They hid all over the forest, trying very hard not to run into any stinging nettles and then stuck together perfectly when trying to find everyone else hiding. Their attention soon turned to the builders who were dismantling some of the equipment on the field. They were getting ready to make space for the library bus, which will soon be driven into position. A great campfire was also built and lots of wood was used to help it keep burning.

BEECH

Beech class were still to excited about the digging zone trench and made sure they put their welly boots on, so that they could start flooding it again. The water butt wasn’t as full as they’d have liked, but they managed to get it flowing and reuse quite a lot of the water. They then plugged up a hole with the squishy mud. Elsewhere a beautiful garden was made with fallen flowers and a campsite was made including a very small fire. Some ninjas were roaming the forest on various missions and the tree swing was enjoyed by all too.

MAPLE

The sun was really burning by the time Maple class ventured outside and trying not to get too hot was the main order of business. They left their water bottles in the shade and made sure that they were well hydrated. The main focus of the session was that the whittling knives were brought out for the first time! All the children sat and had a lesson in how to use them safely and then just over half the class had a go making as many shavings as they could. A great Lion King puppet of Zazu was made and a cool see saw was hopping up and down too.
