The show must go on!

This week in Lime Class has been full of excitement and learning! We launched our new topic, How Did the Anglo-Saxons Change Britain?, with the children creating colourful title pages for their topic books. They explored a timeline to see where the Anglo-Saxons fit in history and compared their era to the Tudors, which helped them understand how life changed over time.

In maths, the children have been discovering how fractions relate to decimals. Using bar models and number lines to represent tenths, they were able to visualise the connection between fractions and decimals in a hands-on way. This practical approach helped the children spot patterns and really understand the concepts.

In English, Year 4 focused on letter writing, learning how to structure both formal and informal letters and thinking carefully about tone and style. Year 3 enjoyed book club discussions about Varjak Paw, exploring characters’ feelings and choices, and writing thoughtful responses to the text.

A definite highlight of the week was our performance of The Terrible Tudors. The children were absolutely amazing, acting, singing, dancing, and sharing information like true professionals—all with energy, confidence, and smiles. A huge thank you to our parents for the wonderful costumes, which made the performance even more special. Performing in front of an audience is so important for building self-esteem, confidence, oracy, and a sense of achievement. Overcoming a few nerves in a safe and supportive environment is also known to help children learn how to manage small amounts of manageable pressure and challenge, preparing them for the future.

Year 3 had a fantastic time in science, potting up plants in the polycrub and exploring the school grounds to sketch the plants they discovered. They loved observing nature up close and recording their findings. Year 4 has been learning about the digestive system in a fun, hands-on way, taking their learning outside into the sunshine for extra space and fresh air.

In PE, we began a gymnastics unit where the children practiced mirroring each other’s movements and creating sequences that showed extension, control, and teamwork. They had a lot of fun while developing balance, coordination, and creativity.

It has been an action-packed week full of learning, creativity, and laughter, and we are so proud of all the children for their hard work, enthusiasm, and sense of fun.
