Transition Times

We have also explored the story of Mr Archimedes’ Bath while investigating capacity. The children made predictions and observed what happened as more and more animals climbed into Mr Archimedes’ bath. They watched with a lot of excitement as the water level rose higher and higher until it eventually overflowed! This hands-on investigation encouraged lots of curiosity, discussion and scientific thinking.
During our PSED learning, we focused on our bodies. We had great fun singing Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes before exploring the names and functions of different body parts. Saplings impressed us with their growing vocabulary, confidently identifying parts such as their elbows, knees and even their spine! Ash class also discussed how our bodies are special and learned that some parts of our bodies are private, helping to develop their understanding of personal safety and respect.

During Forest School this week, the children became bird detectives as they explored the woodland, looking and listening for different birds. To their delight, they discovered a special note from the birds asking for some tasty treats to enjoy over the summer holidays while the children are away!Inspired by the birds' message, the children made their own bird feeders using pipe cleaners and Cheerios. They carefully threaded the cereal onto the pipe cleaners, developing their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, before bending them into different shapes. Once their bird feeders were complete, the children proudly hung them around the forest, ready for the birds to enjoy over the summer.
