LIME
Some Blue Tits have started visiting the forest which is always a very exciting time of year! Lime class were buzzing at the thought of seeing them and some had the patience to wait quietly for them to swoop in and out of their bird box. They couldn’t hear any chirping inside but thought it wouldn’t be long until the eggs hatched. Elsewhere, a group of VE Day celebrators had a party, while some raged a re-enactment of WWII. There was also a Star Wars shop to Celebrate May the 4th Be with you.
WILLOW
Willow have seen the Blue Tits for the last few years, so they weren’t as interested as Lime! Today they turned their attention to the many clumps of stinging nettles that have sprawled up and infiltrated most green corners of the forest. They started wildly attacking and chopping away at them but then turned into scientists and became fascinated as to why they worked. They discovered… flowering nettles don’t sting, the hairs don’t sting if you stroke up but a few brave children discovered they did sting on the way back down.
EYFS
Right on cue, the Blue Tits were ready to show Ash and Saplings their never-ending flights back and fourth to the bird box and they were very interested as to why they kept flying in and out. They then played a cracking game of 1, 2, 3, Where Are You? (sticking together as a team really well) and then ventured into the forest. Apart from a brief moment where they realised there was no water in the water butt, they were perfectly harmonious! Swinging in the trees, mixing potions and playing hide and seek.
BEECH
Beech were super excited by the Blue Tits (who seem absolutely used to children running around them by now) and they sat quietly on the stumps waiting for them to make the journey as saw 3 different swoops in and out, which made them think that there were three birds in total! In the forest they were mostly excited to play Star Wars games (there were 4 Darth Vader’s) and recreate WWII after VE Day. There was also a brief moment where someone lost the ability to speak, so a potion had to be made to help them.
MAPLE
The birds were on top form once more for Maple class and a few Maple class children were very interested in what they were up to. They waited and watched at the stumps enjoying them dangling little yellow caterpillars from their beaks and checking left and right before diving into the hole. They were also very excited about VE Day and once again WWII raged in the forest (with a few Star Wars character thrown in for good measure!) They also did some fabulous whittling!
