La La La Lava…

LIME

It was a dreary looking morning but Lime felt optimistic that they wouldn’t need waterproofs, so rolled the dice! The incredible Museum from before half term was back and they had a whole load of ‘Arty Facts’ that they were showing off to their friends. A group of musicians played a wonderful gig before touring around the world. Lots of squeals could be heard and people had gathered around someone who was holding a whole host of bugs. It turned out a woodlouse had birthed about 50 little white babies into a Lime class child’s hand! Just as they headed in it started raining – what timing!

WILLOW

The knives were out for Willow class and it was very peaceful around the stumps, as about a third of the children came and went enjoying wood shavings flying everywhere. Elsewhere in the forest was much louder! One shop were very happy that the water butt was full of water again and used liquid to create a whole lot of Lava chicken related items (they’ve branched out into spicy drinks now too). The king of the Forest was overseeing all of this and making sure that everyone was trying his new drink too!

EYFS

The excitement that the water butt was full again was truly off the charts for the youngest members of the school. They queued and filled up buckets and pans full of water for various different uses. One pair were pouring water all over the floor to see which stream would travel the furthest and then decided to make a porridge with the left overs. Another team built a den but didn’t want the tarp to have too many holes because they didn’t need windows.  A huge group then  started a guava (which they explained is a type of marshmallow) shop and attached it to the den.

BEECH

Beech weren’t put off that the trees were too wet to climb and they began finding different ways to use the rope swing. ‘Heave, ho’ could be heard on repeat, as they pulled the rope to make people swing higher, before they decided the excess rope should be made into a zip wire! As it was Rotisserie Chicken Day, a great spit was made and mud chicken was suspended over an imaginary fire. Some animals were in the mix too, as a snail was inspected by a large group, while another team found some small white pods which they suspected were ant eggs.

MAPLE

The darkness loomed over the forest and it seemed like the heavens could open at any moment, so Maple put their wellies on cautiously (and also begrudgingly)! They weren’t in the forest for long before the rain came but decided that it was just a passing shower, so they ran for cover and waited for it to pass. A group of very passionate Mapleites started a tribe that worshiped one of the Saplings and began chanting their name and drawing pictures of them in the mud! Some great shelters were made to protect from the elements and the biggest beetle in the world was found.
