A wheelie amazing week!

What an exciting and action-packed week it has been in Lime Class!

The highlight of the week was an incredible visit from BMX star Mike Mullen. He amazed us all with jaw-dropping stunts in the hall and then inspired us with his motivational talk about growth mindset – reminding us that mistakes help us grow. Year 4 children even had their own workshop with Mike, trying out tricks and building their confidence step by step.

In Maths, both Year 3 and 4 have been diving into place value, breaking numbers into thousands, hundreds, tens and ones. We’ve been exploring different ways to partition numbers – like detectives uncovering hidden number secrets.

Meanwhile, Lime Class has been buzzing with budding journalists. Year 3 and Year 4 have each been composing newspaper reports, using models that were just right for their age group. Who knows – we might have the next great reporter sitting in our classroom!

Music took us on a journey through sound and imagination. We listened to Night on a Bare Mountain and created our own pictorial responses. Every picture was unique, showing how music can spark something different in each of us.

In History, we travelled back thousands of years to learn about the hunter-gatherers of Star Carr. By studying evidence found there, we began to piece together the story of how early people lived.

Science split into two exciting paths:

  • Year 3 sorted and classified different types of foods – a tasty way to learn.

  • Year 4 grouped plants, discovering the difference between evergreen and deciduous trees, and flowering and non-flowering plants. We used Venn diagrams to show our findings.

In PE, we’ve been working on our football and hockey skills – passing, receiving and dribbling with growing confidence.

Even though we are a large group, we make sure our learning is as active as possible. We move around the room to discuss ideas with different partners, developing our oracy skills and learning from each other through discussion.

Finally, in French we stretched our tongues with new sounds: ou, on, oi, and ch. Words like mouton, cochon, oiseau, and cheval gave us a fun challenge and plenty of practice.

What a fantastic week of learning, moving, creating and growing together in Lime Class!
