What a wonderfully busy and exciting week we have had in Beech Class!
This week, the children have thrown themselves into rehearsals for our upcoming show, Ralph the Reindeer. The hall has been filled with singing, acting and lots of festive excitement. We have been rehersing our lines, learning new songs, working on clear speaking voices and trying hard to remember all of our actions. The children have also been learning how to perform confidently in front of an audience projecting their voices, using expression and supporting one another on stage. Their enthusiasm has been fantastic, and we cannot wait to share the finished performance with you soon.
In English, Year 1 have been very busy writing detailed reports about some extremely naughty animals who broke into our school! The children used imaginative vocabulary, clear sentences and plenty of creativity to explain what happened, what the animals were like and all the mischief they caused. They have worked so hard to organise their ideas and present them beautifully.
Year 2, meanwhile, have been focusing on their comprehension skills through a fascinating text about Christmas traditions around the world. The children learned how different countries celebrate the festive season, from special foods to unique customs. They discussed what they found interesting, answered questions using full sentences, using evidence from the text to support their understanding. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and thoughtful responses.
A highlight of the week was our exciting trip to Bishop’s Stortford to see the Snow White pantomime. The children were completely captivated there was singing, dancing, plenty of laughter and lots of opportunities to join in with the fun. The performance was full of energy and sparkle, and it was a joy to see the children so engaged and entertained.
The children have also been exploring winter through art. The children looked closely at pictures of snowy landscapes and talked about the colours, textures, and feelings they noticed. Using paint, sponges, and fine brushes, they created their own beautiful winter scenes, experimenting with cool tones, soft blending, and tiny details like falling snowflakes and frosty trees. Everyone showed fantastic creativity and focus, and their finished artwork has brought a magical winter sparkle to our classroom.
Well done, Beech Class, for another fantastic week of learning, creativity and festive fun!
