Ice to meet You!

LIME

The morning was another frosty one and Lime class were very intrigued by everything ice-related again. They were disappointed to see that the water butt wasn’t frozen like last week but found lots of small ice chunks dotted around. A group decided that wood shavings were cheese and opened up a cheese sandwich shop. They got another group to be ‘Cheese Harvesters’ and then made up the finished sandwiches, which they sold for 2 leaves each. A sweet shop called ‘Hansel and Gretel’s’ was also made and they created delicious slushies.

WILLOW

Willow had ditched Traitors for the week and had a very diverse session. The hammock was tied by one of the children who wanted to give it a go and it didn’t fall down once! A large group went back to the trick shot challenge and threw tennis balls into the upturned cone again. Some found a piece of bamboo and rode it around like a pony until it snapped in half. Another conker was found and had a little shoot growing out of it, so they decided to plant it where no creatures could dig it up and no one would step on it too much.

EYFS

The weather was much warmer on Friday morning and there were huge cheers as the Ash and Saplings Foresteers realised that they could play 1, 2, 3, Where are You? without either freezing or getting drenched. So they scuttled off to find hiding spots and played fantastically. Then a great discovery was made. The stream that runs along the bottom of the school was flowing so fast and most of the class watched – mesmerised. They wondered where the water came from and if it would get any higher! Luckily they didn’t need their armbands.

BEECH

Beech class were equally as excited to find that the stream was flowing freely and they had a big discussion about where the water went after in went into the tunnel. They thought that it might be feeding all of the grass on the field. Then they saw a stick and immediately decided that it was ‘Stickman’. They pleaded with Stickman to get free and even turned around hoping he’d move if he didn’t feel like he was being watched! A great pizza shop was made and the digging zone was very popular with everyone sharing the shovels really nicely.

MAPLE

The stream was also a hot topic for Maple class and they wondered which stick it was that Beech class thought was Stickman! Someone spent the whole session tying various ropes to sticks, in the hope of freeing Stickman and sending him on his way. Another conker was found and a larger group than last week began digging and planting. They added some extra flair this week by having a planting ceremony, but only ‘Forest Priests’ were allowed to sprinkle dirt! The swing was popular as always and they were relieved to be able to climb trees too.
