LIME
Lime class made use of the dry weather and were very excited to be up in the trees again, they climbed anything that would hold them and really challenged themselves to climb to new heights. A new food shop opened up called Quick Pizza, but don’t be fooled by the name. Quick Pizza would make anything you wanted and bring it to you very speedily. A huge group discovered and then tried to replant the (very sad looking) Christmas tree that has been knocking around the forest for a couple of years now! They made sure to give it lots of water.
WILLOW
Willow were incredibly resourceful today, they made an incredible shelter using pallets and sticks, made a brand new invention called a ‘Shortener’ (which is a hole in the ground that if you felt too tall, you could stand in and be shorter) and they discovered our brand new ‘Forest Loose Parts’. They found some tubes and began to send messages (of varying volumes) down them. They then began connecting the tubes together and see how far messages would travel. The ‘Shortener’ then also made use of the loose parts by having a chair and becoming a relaxing seat.
EYFS
There was lots of excitement to unpack in Ash and Saplings this morning! They were having a special science session later on, they were still buzzing about world book day and to top it all off, the blossom falling from the tree made them very excited (they thought it was snowing)! They used story cubes to tell a story and then had their own forest adventures. Some found the replanted Christmas tree and wanted to decorate it, some hid around the forest and the tree climbers were very active. They also made sure not to step on any of the snowdrops!
BEECH
Before forest, Beech created their own story with the story cubes too. A fish was stuck in a maze but then a wolf came and helped it get out. They were also were collecting as much of the blossom as they could and then the falling seeds also caught their eye to use in potions! Bug collecting was also on the agenda! Worms were the main part of the collection but a spider and really tiny bee were found too. A very cool den was built making a big circle of logs around the Christmas tree and they’re really good at taking turns climbing the tree.
MAPLE
Maple also enjoyed using the story cubes! Their story was about a parrot who got hit on the head by an egg on the beach. He wouldn’t wake up, so all the class sung ‘twinkle twinkle little star’ and he woke up and danced happily! Some children spent the whole session using the cubes to tell stories. The next most exciting thing was the Forest: loose parts, which were used to make an aeroplane, then barrel dens and finally a microphone with some very jazzy music! They also shared the tree and hammock very nicely!
