LIME
The wind was really kicking up this morning and a large group of the Lime class forest experts put the Loose Parts and new giant tarp to GREAT use. They used the barrels as corners and even made a floor using some material and lived like kings for the whole session. They stuck a hoover pipe into one of the barrels and explained that that was how the electricity was provided! Another big group started a game where you had to try and jump and catch hold of the rope swing in the tree, while the digging zone was flooded and churned up in a big way!
WILLOW
Willow class had a slightly shorter session due to the immense wind levels that were surging their way through Hertfordshire! But in their time, they managed to make great use of the Loose Parts and took shelter in the barrels. Some children realised that they could flip their coats inside out and lean against the wind. Some potions were made and also the Christmas tree was buried in a new spot for approximately the 100th time this year… They also noticed that a tree had fallen in the wind!
EYFS
Chicks! There were some very cute little yellow chicks hidden around the forest and the little ones had to search high and low to find one to look after. Once they found one, they had to give it a name and make a home for it and they were absolutely besotted with their new buddies. Some names chosen were…Kevin, Jackie, Mushroom, Cookie, Swimmy, Golden, Pidgey, Rooster, Fairy and Tigress! The best moment of the session was when a muddy chick was given a bath and all the feather fell off leaving just a pair of plastic legs remaining…
BEECH
Mrs Connolly had given Beech class the big responsibility of tidying up the forest before the holidays and they were thrilled at the opportunity to use the litter pickers. They proudly filled up a whole bucket full of rubbish and did and incredible job sharing them too. The fallen tree was very exciting for one group who had a new spot to make a den. Another very muddy group were saving seals (which were muddy logs!), they cleaned them up, as if there had been an oil spill and took great care of them. The digging zone was very busy too!
