Mud

LIME

Lime class were full of great ideas this morning! In the loose parts zone, they set about making a tunnel for bugs to safely move through and also found some huge mushrooms that had grown on a log! It then started raining, so the loose parts were quickly whipped up and a shelter was made. Elsewhere the people of the digging zone were supplying a group with the finest ice cream they could mine. The ice cream was put into a black tub and then garnished with the finest chocolate shavings and sweet tasting flower petals!

EYFS

It was time for a story round the stumps this morning, as the little ones retold the story of the gingerbread man and had a great time. They were very good at acting out all of the different characters and made lots of animal noises. They were then inspired to become bakers and do lots of running around! The digging zone was wild this morning and they children were like happy hippos in mud! They were absolutely caked in brown goo and were finding more and more ways to slosh the mud around without getting too stuck.

BEECH

Beech class were equally impressed by the mud but they were under strict instruction to report to a teacher to check if their waterproofs were covering them enough before they were allowed in! They were making some incredible mud balls and slathering logs, so that they were totally covered! The rope swing was very busy and there was so much giggling happening from inside the hammock too. A hedgehog zoo was also founded and had lots of spikey sweet chestnut shells living peacefully along with a lot of eggs.

MAPLE

2 separate shelters popped up in the loose parts zone today instead of the usual one big shelter and it was very interesting to see how they used the same materials differently. Some very squishy digging zone mud was used to make ice cream and they’d mixed it so much that it was actually quite smooth looking! Some Mayans had time travelled to the forest and were making their own mixture of cacao, that they were sharing around. There were also some children who had been to the tag rugby competition and they just needed a nap in the hammock…

WILLOW

It was week 3 of the Year 6 Forest Olympics! The 1st challenge was the team building exercise where you have to get from one side of the river to the other only using the same amount of hoops as team players…but every time you touch the floor, you head back to the start! Biscoff Spread finished in record time and unfortunately The Space Raiders (Beef Flavour) were in last place. They then had to hunt around the forest to find the best stick, leaf, stone and unusual thing to be judged! They don’t know who’s winning overall but it’s very close!
