It has been a busy and brain-boosting week in Year 6!
In Science, we rolled up our sleeves (figuratively!) and explored the fascinating world of blood. We learnt about its different components—red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma—and discussed the important jobs each one does to keep our bodies healthy and protected. There were lots of great questions and some impressive scientific vocabulary being used!
Over in Gymnastics, we’ve been developing our strength, balance and confidence. We perfected our straddle rolls and challenged ourselves by learning how to perform a dish roll. This involved using momentum and core strength—and plenty of determination! We showed great resilience and teamwork while refining our techniques.
In Maths, we’ve stepped into the world of algebra. We’ve been learning how to write algebraic expressions by substituting letters for numbers, helping us understand how maths can be used to represent patterns and relationships. We quickly tackled this new area of learning with confidence and soon felt at ease writing different expressions.
Finally, in English, we’ve been polishing our grammar skills. We revisited subordinate clauses and subordinating conjunctions, and practised spotting the difference between active and passive sentences. These skills are really helping to strengthen the our writing and make it more precise and engaging.
Have a lovely weekend!
