LIME
It was time for the Lime class children to be given a brand new challenge; they were tasked with making different types of bridges and seeing what kind of heavy load they could handle. There were bridges that were strong enough for logs and sticks, while others focused on transporting people. One bridge turned into a Gladiators style game where you had to get from one side to the other but falling off meant that you’d land in a puddle of sludge. There were also a lot of Sweet Chestnuts falling down and a shop was made selling them.
WILLOW
The oldest and wisest members of the school were also given the bridges challenge and they rose to the occasion expertly, making a wonderful bridge…that then turned into their very own bar! They sat in the pub and watched some performances and ate the food (mostly sweet chestnuts) and drank the murky brown forest sludge. They were entertained by a performer who sang songs only by screeching. Elsewhere, an awesome treehouse was made, while the swing was enjoyed by a lot of people and a soup was made too.
EYFS
Bridges were on the cards for the youngest members of the school too. They worked hard to made some wooden structures and one even came with its very own seat. One team piled up at least 50 logs to make a sort of dam/bridge which they were rightfully very proud of. They carried the sticks well, demonstrating great teamwork and safety! Another huge team were on walnut collection. They filled up 2 buckets of them and began washing them (with very muddy water). Mrs Lammin even took 2 bags home for her squirrels!
BEECH
It was the Walnuts that sparked Beech classes interest more than the bridge challenge. They filled 3 huge buckets full of them and were having the time of their lives collecting them and were shocked when forest had finished! They also made a couple of bridges that turned into balancing beams and they took turns walking from one side to the other. A boat was also made using some sticks as the ships wheels. They were fighting off A LOT of pirates, so it was quite a surprise to find out that it was actually meant to be a peaceful cruise ship!
MAPLE
It was Maple’s turn to build some structures and they really got into it. One group made a huge bridge that people could use and then decorated it by covering it all in chalk. It took them a long time and they were very pleased with themselves afterwards. A group began creating a thick looking mud mixture, then they strained it through a colander and decided it was called ‘mud mud’, there was no real point of mud mud but they were having a great time! The rope swing was very busy as always and a crew of workers were absolutely exhausted by the end.
