Building, Bright Ideas & Bold Heroes!

We’ve been busy creating, experimenting, and celebrating some incredible achievements — and we are thrilled to share it all with you.

This week we put the finishing touches on our impressive scale models of Anderson shelters. After carefully constructing the frames, we added the roofs and gave them a splash of paint to make them look super realistic. The best part? We got to evaluate our designs, thinking about what worked well and what we might change if we built another shelter next time. Then came the ultimate test — we checked if our shelters could actually support weight and protect the people inside. We were amazed! Our shelters held over 1 kilogram with no damage at all. Talk about strong and sturdy!

In Science, we took our knowledge of conductors and circuits to the next level by designing innovative switches. These weren’t just any switches — they had to light up either one of two lamps independently or both lamps at the same time. To make it extra tricky, we had to build our switches using everyday objects. It was a real test of teamwork, perseverance, and problem-solving, but we all rose to the challenge and created some clever solutions.

October is Black History Month, and we’ve been celebrating by learning about some truly inspiring individuals who have made a positive impact on the world. From Rosa Parks and Nelson Mandela to Marcus Rashford, we explored their achievements and wrote about their incredible journeys. To make it even more fun, we played a quiz to see how much we knew — and everyone loved the challenge!

A reminder that our visit to Bletchley Park takes place on Monday 13th October. We are looking forward to a fun and informative day! Have a lovely weekend.
