Dazzling costumes and wonderful words

Summary

It’s been an exciting week in Beech Class! We’ve celebrated both World Book Day and International Women’s Day. World Book Day was a fantastic celebration of the books and words we adore. The children dazzled us with a wonderful parade, showcasing their fantastic costumes and words. A huge thank you to all the parents and carers for their support! We enjoyed hearing some fantastic words, from “fluorescent” to “mysterious”. We were fortunate to have Governor Richard Battle visit us and read an exciting story titled “I Say Ooh You Say Ahh” by John Kane. The children thoroughly enjoyed the story, and I’m certain it will become a cherished favourite.

In our English lessons, we’ve been closely examining fables, and we’ll continue with this theme next week. We delved into the story of “The Scorpion and the Frog,” reflecting on our own traits in the process. We’ve been analysing the language commonly found in fables and practicing writing expanded noun phrases to vividly describe a variety of animals.

In our science classes, we’ve been exploring how the seasons influence general weather patterns. The children had the opportunity to craft their own weather reports and thoroughly enjoyed stepping into the role of weather presenters.

In our computing lessons, we’ve been concentrating on programming and have begun using Scratch to code a sprite. We’ve been examining the importance of precise commands and exploring the consequences if we overlook them.

We wish you a relaxing weekend, and from the entire Beech team, Happy International Women’s Day!
