This week in Beech Class, we brought our History learning on the Royal Family to a wonderful conclusion with a special royal tea party. The children thoroughly enjoyed preparing for the event, taking on the role of hosts as they made their own sandwiches and helped to set up a truly regal celebration. This activity allowed them to reflect on everything they have learned about British monarchs, including traditions, roles, and how royal events are celebrated. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and understanding shine through as they took part in this memorable experience.
In Art, we completed our final pieces for the term, showcasing all the skills the children have been developing. The Year 1 children created beautiful sunflower paintings inspired by Vincent van Gogh, carefully exploring colour mixing, brush techniques, and observing shape and texture. Meanwhile, the Year 2 children finished their impressive cityscape artwork inspired by L.S. Lowry. They focused on perspective, composition, and the use of muted tones to reflect Lowry’s distinctive style. We are incredibly proud of the creativity and effort shown by all the children.
In English, the Year 2 children have been enjoying writing springtime acrostic poems, demonstrating their growing confidence in vocabulary choice and poetic structure. They worked hard to include descriptive language and seasonal themes in their writing. Across the class, all children took part in writing thoughtful Easter cards to their families. This provided a lovely opportunity to working on sentence writing, spelling, and expressing kind messages to others.
It has been a fantastic end to our topic, filled with creativity, celebration, and meaningful learning across the curriculum. We wish all of our families a peaceful and happy Easter break.
