What a sweltering week it has been! The children in Early Years have been enjoying the sunshine, getting crafty making their own fans, and building dens to give themselves a shady spot away from the hot sunshine. They were also lucky enough to enjoy some ice lollies in the shade to help them keep cool.

A huge thank you to Hazel’s mummy and daddy for bringing some feathered friends to visit the children last week! The children loved seeing and holding the ducklings, and have been using this first hand experience to build their knowledge of life cycles.
In maths this week, we have been using positional language to take our little minibeasts out on an adventure! After listening to the story Bug’s Big Trip, the children noticed that there were lots of words in the story that described where the bug was… on… under… in between… We had a go at following instructions ourselves, taking our creatures on an adventure on the climbing frame, under the benches and even in between the tyres!
We have been thinking a lot about growing and changing this week. The children loved looking at their baby photos and enjoyed talking about things that they are now able to do as they have grown up and matured. The children enjoyed playing in role as different family members during their choosing time, some choosing to take on the role of the parent of the household, whilst others chose to be the teenager or baby! It has been lovely chatting with the children about the differences they note between each life stage.
