Little Hadham are nuts…

LIME

It was a dreary morning and Lime were less than happy with the idea of putting waterproofs on for their 2nd forest back! They soon got over it and made their way outside and discovered the huge array of walnut shells all over the forest. They used them in pots and pans and enjoyed discovering the hard shell underneath the green skin but decided that they shouldn’t open up anymore encase people were allergic. Another highlight was discovering that a stick would go all the way through a hole in the tree!

WILLOW

Willow were equally as unimpressed by the waterproofs and it took them a while to trudge to the stumps! But once there, it didn’t take them long to get into the swing of things. A huge group of barbarians were gathering swords and training. They did a lot of pull-ups to grow their strength for the battles to come! Others hung around in the hammock and a few enjoyed having shovels back in the digging zone. They also really enjoyed collecting the walnut shells and also added the sweet chestnuts too.

EYFS

Ding dong! What’s that? I didn’t order a parcel, did you? Justin Chestnut from the British Conker Society (the BCS, as you probably all know) sent a huge box full of conkers and entrusted Little Hadham with looking after and playing with them! The smallest members of the school started making an incredible conker soup, while another group filled test tubes with them and poured them all out. After a brief interlude for a fire drill, they went back into the forest and began planting as many conkers as they could and making a small house for them to live happily!

BEECH

Beech were equally as impressed with the mystery cardboard box and were desperate to find out what was inside. They immediately began a conker shop and were wheeling and dealing to everyone. Some had huge collections by the end of the session. Some used theirs to make a potato soup, others buried them as treasure for friends to find and some just filled pots with water and tipped them in and out! The trees were very popular and a new rope swing had popped up which a team really enjoyed spinning round and round on.

MAPLE

Wearing waterproofs seem to cause a great deal of pain for Maple class, so they were absolutely thrilled to find out it was just a welly day! They used the weather to their advantage and made the most of climbing the trees and swinging on the brand new swing. There was a huge queue of people and a few people decided to take charge and make sure everyone got a go and followed the rules! They also thoroughly enjoyed Justin Chestnut’s letter and got to work with the conkers and used them to have a ceremony celebrating one of the Beech class children!
