November already!

Lime Class have had a wonderfully busy and inspiring  week, filled with creativity, curiosity, and plenty of festive excitement. In English, the children have truly impressed us with their imaginative thinking. Our Year 3 writers have been planning and composing their very own fairy tales, carefully sketching detailed story maps to guide their ideas. Their maps have been full of evil villains, brave heroes, and magical twists—each one completely unique. Meanwhile, the Year 4s have taken on the challenge of crafting myths of wisdom. Set among misty mountains and ancient enchanted woods, their stories feature wise creatures, powerful lessons, and mythical beings brought brilliantly to life through thoughtful vocabulary and vivid description.

Maths has been just as lively. Year 3 have been exploring multiplication by grouping, sharing, and building arrays with practical equipment—our “manipulatives”—which has helped them truly see how multiplication works. The Year 4s have been sharpening their times-table recall with energetic games like Bingo and Fizz Buzz, turning quick thinking into friendly competition. Both year groups also came together for a joint lesson on adding and subtracting 2- and 3-digit numbers efficiently, sharing strategies and supporting each other beautifully.

In Science, our Year 4 children have begun a brand-new unit on electricity, buzzing with excitement as they explored what they already know and what they hope to find out next. Year 3, meanwhile, have been investigating the world beneath their feet. They examined the different surfaces around our environment and have planned an upcoming experiment to test how a marble travels across each one. The scientific thinking, predictions, and teamwork have been fantastic to see.

The whole class has also been captivated by our new novel, Varjak Paw. Each chapter has kept everyone perched on the edge of their seats, eager to uncover what will happen next to our brave feline hero. Alongside this, we’ve been preparing for the Christmas Bazaar by decorating the brown paper bags that have now travelled home to be filled for the school stall.  Colour and creativity have filled the classroom as the children designed thoughtful and festive artwork.

Our wider curriculum has been equally exciting. In Geography, we compared weather data from three Scandinavian cities and discovered how the climates across these northern countries differ from Britain’s. The children were fascinated by the dramatic contrasts in daylight and temperature. In Music, we’ve been practising a special Christmas song that we can’t wait to perform for you on the evening of the Bazaar. And in French, the class have enjoyed learning the names of various animals, enthusiastically practising their new vocabulary with great confidence.

Lime Class continue to amaze us with their enthusiasm, imagination, and growing independence. What a wonderful start to the season it has been!
