What a busy and exciting week it has been in EYFS! The children have been fully immersed in learning and playing together.
To continue our Diwali celebrations, the children enjoyed getting hands-on by making salt dough diya lamps from scratch. This was a wonderful opportunity for them to practice important skills like pouring, mixing, and kneading the dough. It was lovely to see them taking turns and working cooperatively to create their lamps — teamwork at its best!

Another highlight this week was our Poetry By Heart Celebration. The children performed “Miss Polly Had a Dolly” with such confidence and clarity. They really worked hard on their singing and presentation, and it was a joy to watch them. They also showed fantastic listening skills, being a respectful and attentive audience to their friends’ performances.
Ash Class even helped Mrs. Lawrence with this blog post, helping her to remember the sounds they could hear in the title of our song “Miss Polly had a Dolly”! The children are doing an amazing job recognising and sequencing their initial sounds, which is a key step in building their reading and writing skills.

Ash and Saplings really enjoyed their first Golden Morning of the year, where they had the opportunity to complete activities in different classrooms, including: science experiments, baking, gardening and creating their own miniature gardens. We finished off half term with a story from some children from Willow class. It is always lovely to hear stories from the older children and the children listened so intently.
