For our final week, the children enjoyed lots of different activities!
We enjoyed a number of fabulous shows, from seeing our friends in Willow class take to the stage, to enjoying the songs and puppetry in the Jungle Book performance by Image Theatre! The children were so enthralled by the puppet work that they took to making some of their own. The process that many of the children each adopted to create their very own bird puppets was carefully considered and well thought through. We had puppets with movable wings, padded puppets, puppets on long sticks, and even puppet necklaces! It was lovely to see how proud the children were as they achieved their desired outcomes, having persevered and tackled any obstacle as it arose.
The children also took part in their very own EYFS Sport’s Day! We have been working hard to practise our events this half term, and we are sure you will all agree that the children did a wonderful job showcasing all their skills that they have been acquiring and perfecting this year. The activities today targeted not only physical skills, such as throwing, balancing, controlling a ball and negotiating space, but also a whole host of personal skills were on show too. From demonstrating a huge amount of patience and perseverance (especially with those cheeky eggs!) to showing team spirit, turn taking and care for one another, we are all so proud at how far the children have come.
After the events in the morning, the children received a jewel EACH for the jar, as the teachers were all so proud! We celebrated with a picnic snack and a little dance party outside! The children loved requesting songs, and showing off their best moves. We had every song request under the sun, from Bruno Mars to Hercules, George Ezra to Elton John! We then enjoyed a calm choosing time inside, sharing stories, drawing and playing with one another.
We finished off the year in style with a party to celebrate all our hard work! The children had so much fun dancing and playing party games with their friends. There was even bubbles, snow and parachute games!

To the parents and carers… thank you all so much for your continued support throughout the year. The EYFS Team are immeasurably grateful for the collaborative approach to the children’s learning and development that we have been able to foster with you all. Thank you all for your gifts and kind words to mark the end of our year together; it means a lot to us all.
We hope that you have a restful, fun and sunny summer break, and we can’t wait to see our new ASH children walk into the cloakroom come September, and our new BEECH children at lunch times in the hall!
Take good care everyone 🙂
